Legal Missionaries To The World, The International Human Rights Group began as a part of Joel Thornton's vision to protect religious freedom beyond the borders of the United States. Recognizing that a variety of organizations were working hard on behalf of Americans of faith it was obvious to the IHRG that the same work needed to be done on behalf of people of faith in other countries.

Additionally, the IHRG realized that America and Europe in particular are circular cultures. What happens in America happens in Europe and what happens in Europe happens in America. This makes it critical that we provide the same legal services to Europeans of faith that we provide in America. We also recognized that our spiritual and cultural heritage comes from Europe, all the way back to Martin Luther and the Reformation.

It is absolutely critical that we work in the legal and political systems of Europe to force the protection of religious freedom and freedom of expression. With no one representing European Christians these rights will continue to evaporate. The IHRG is there to provide legal representation to these brave saints--free of charge to them. We are entirely supported by donations and recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization.

Additionally, we provide the religious freedom help for the missionaries who attend major sporting events like the Olympic Games and the World Cup Soccer Tournament. These missionaries come in the thousands, volunteering their time, paying their own way, to share their faith with the hundreds of thousands of people who attend these sporting events. It is a perfect time to share our faith and reach out to a lost and dying world. IHRG is there to protect their rights, ensuring they are not arrested or prohibited from performing the labors of a missionary. Again, we do this at no cost to the missionaries we serve.
